Login with Duo Unix
When you log in to a system with Duo Unix installed, you will be prompted to complete two-factor authentication after submitting your primary credentials.
Type in a passcode — either generated with Duo Mobile, sent via SMS, generated by your hardware token, or provided by an administrator — or choose another authentication option.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Duo Push | Pushes a login request to your phone (if you have Duo Mobile installed and activated on your iOS or Android device). Just review the request and tap "Approve" to log in. |
Phone call | Authenticate via phone callback. |
SMS passcodes | Get a new batch of SMS passcodes. Your login attempt will fail — log in again with one of your new passcodes. |
If your Duo administrator has enabled automatic push for this application, you will receive a Duo Mobile login request or phone call automatically.
If your organization requires that you enter a verification code, you'll see it in the output from Duo Unix.
Enter the code shown on screen into the Duo Push approval request you receive in Duo Mobile to complete the login process.

Enroll with Duo Unix
If you are a new Duo user and your organization's administrator allows you to self-enroll, the Duo Unix text response will provide an enrollment link:
Copy this enrollment link into your browser to complete Duo enrollment.
After you complete Duo enrollment, log in again and you'll receive the Duo Unix prompt showing your enrolled Duo authentication methods.
